Caring For Your Shades!

Proper care is key to getting the most out of your shades! Here are some tips to help them last for years.

  • Salt Water: Always rinse your sunglasses with fresh water after they've been exposed to salt water. Cleaning or wiping lenses with salt water can gradually wear down the coating, leaving spots.
  • Be Gentle: When cleaning the lenses, gently wipe them with a clean cloth. Too much pressure can wear down the protective coatings over time.
  • Heat: As you know, parked cars can get hot. Like, 170°F hot! That kind of heat is no bueno for sunglasses - or anything for that matter. If you leave them in your car, try to keep them out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures and sunlight can damage your shades.
  • Lens Cleaners: Avoid using any lens cleaners on your sunglasses. While they might be fine for certain glass lenses, the chemicals can ruin the lens mirror coating. Stick to fresh water for cleaning, and you won’t have any issues.

Our sunglasses are built to last, but like any product, the better you take care of them, the longer they’ll perform at their best. If you have any questions about caring for your shades, feel free to email us at hello@detoursunglasses.com.
